ciao, amigas! i pray this post finds you all in good spirits and health!
wow what a week! been super busy & worn out/tired but determined! :) we are in the process of moving...staying in seal beach. i adore this little town! so been packing and cleaning all week in spite of the migraine tuesday's weather brought with it. lol cannot let a headache stop you when you have so much to do. so grateful for my faith in times like these ...i never get too busy to feel heavenly father's presence and guidance. this is my last weekend in this darling little flat. onto the next lovely one :) there won't be a tgifacebook friday next week as i'll be moving :) but bolo for pics on tuesday (dia de santo valentine/dia de la amistad/valentine's day). i managed to create some darling gifts for my valentines :)

¡feliz año nuevo, amigas! i hope you're all happy and healthy in this wonderful new year! other than mild dystonic tics i've been grrreat thus far!
it's hard to believe we're turning toward the third week of january. mills is excited to be out of school monday. it's been a truly lovely week for me. yoga helped immensely with my muscles and other things related to my dystonia this week. my body is feeling a lot less spastic :) so that's truly a blessing. i'm truly grateful for this beautiful new year. grateful for the love and support i have from my family and true amigas. grateful for your support of my blog and business. grateful for my disability that keeps me grounded and mindful of what's truly important in life. so it's been a wonderful week of reflection and gratitude for me.

i am working on some fun projects for valentine's day and i'll also have some of my fave recipes for you so bolo for those fun things.
those of you in america have a super great and safe three day weekend! and to my amigas around the world, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

i know, it seems like ages since i posted a facebook friday!  i've been so sick i haven't really wanted to just post about coughing, sneezing, wheezing, et al. lol!

anywho i'm still not feeling well, but i've managed to get one of my wip's finished so i wanted to share that with you!

the mini flap/fold-out album i've been working on for my cousin is done!

more wip's

ciao amigas! i hope you're all doing well! a little bit of a heatwave here in so-cal,eh?!

omg, and yes, i'm still sick! :-/ mills accused me of having pertussis but alas it's just really bad allergies. the cough is getting a bit better though.  i've even lost 8 pounds! but being sick is not the way i wanted to lose my mini muffin-top hee hee!

ok, soooo every once in a while i'm able to get out of bed and work on something. so here are the two new projects i've been working on. they're works in progress, of course.  i'll surely update you once all of my recent wip's are done.

the first one is a baby onesie cupcake.  i stamped the onesie in regal rose craft ink. then i added some heat & stick powder and heated it up with my heat tool. then i added some dazzling diamonds.  i drew the eyelashes, nose, and mouth on with a rose red stampin' write marker. i stamped the "stinkin' cute" in classic basic black ink. then i heat set the entire thing. i'll show you the finished "onesie cupcake" once i figure out how to decorate the "muffin liner"(i used coffee filters as shown in this onesie cupcake video). i hope you like it :-)

the second wip is a mini fold out album i'm working on for my cousin, yaz. she just had a new baby boy. her nursery is based on the eddie bauer teddy bear nursery set:

so i decided to make her a little brag book album for her diaper bag. i just knew the "favorite teddy bear" stamps would be perfect for the album. i used chocolate chip, naturals ivory, naturals white, bordering blue (retired color) smooth card stocks.  i used a little bella birds dsp (retired). i also used a sponge dauber to ink distress all of the edges in chocolate chip classic ink.  i stamped the teddy bears in soft suede, early espresso, creamy caramel(retired), and chocolate chip classic inks. i drew the little plaid patches onto their paws with the chocolate chip stampin' write marker, soft suede stampin' write marker, creamy caramel stampin' write marker (retired), and the early espresso stampin' write marker. i also used some versamark to stamp the confetti in.

ciao amigas! i hope this post finds you all in much better condition than i am! omg! i've been so sick! my dr says i've got it bad! i think i need to own stock in flonase! lol!

i apologize i've been so m.i.a. lately. i've just been really, really, ill. the colder weather exacerbates my tics and spasms and to have a severe cold and allergy issue on top of it~ i've been in bed a lot! the cough from my post-nasal drip is so severe it gags me. ugh! yuck!  i have felt much too awful to even blog in advance so you'd have something to read everyday. i'm working on getting better each day, though. i suppose if i weren't such a naturalist i could take a prescription and be past it but i prefer to let nature run its course so i'm not needlessly taking antibiotics or things of that nature. next month i'm going to budget for a really good neti pot!  i'll tell you a fabulous tip though ~ take vicks vaporub and rub it on the bottom of your feet at night and wear socks. omg! it totally works! i have to thank my beautiful "scrappin' mafiosa" for that little tip! yep, she sent it to me all the way from australia! :-)

having been able to watch general conference over the weekend was such a comfort. i know my heavenly father is always looking out for me and i will survive anything that comes my way. 

speaking of being a survivor, i hope all of you are doing your bse's and having your mammograms as admonished by your physicians. i  recently changed my dr and so i will find out if i truly need biopsies on the right breast. no matter, i know if it's cancer i will beat it like my mum did! she taught me how to be a survivor! she fought her way out of a comatose state after being given a 3% chance to live! so si se puede! this is breast cancer awareness month and i admonish you all to take care of your tatas! let the photos below, again remind you to get your tests and diagnostic screenings! pink is my favorite color and it's awesome it's associated with something so important! get your mammograms, amigas! below the pics i have some fabulous news!

holy frijoles!

yep! that's what's for dinner~chili beans and cornbread. i know my granny would be so proud of me if she were down here to partake in this lovely dinner i'm fixing for tonight. i mean i even have a smoked hamhock in the beans!

(photo not indicative of tonight's actual meal. for illustration purposes only. it's actually the pic from the dinner odie and i fixed a couple of weekends ago~he made the beans. i made the bread. it was a great and delicious collaboration hee hee!)

i would like to thank albers for making the best cornmeal on the planet! having albers made my cornbread come out so fabulously! here's my recipe if you'd like to try it:

bella's cornbread~

preheat oven to 400 degrees. place 10" cast iron skillet w/fat(smart balance/butter/bacon fat) into oven to melt and swirl around the pan. once melted remove from oven and pour into a ramekin to cool. place skillet aside.

1 1/4 c albers cornmeal

3/4 c unbleached all purpose gold medal flour

2/3 c c & h granulated sugar

1 T + 1 t calumet baking powder

1/3 t arm and hammer baking soda

1/3 t morton salt

1/4 c 8th continent vanilla soy milk

3/4 c horizon organic fat free milk

2/3 c (melted) smart balance or butter or bacon fat (hee hee yeah this is the naughty part of my cornbread)

1 egg, beaten

combine wet ingredients in bowl of kitchenaid w/paddle attachment. whisk together the dry ingredients in a separate bowl until well mixed. with the mixer on low, stir dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until incorporated a bit. add cooled fat and stir on low until well incorporated. remove bowl from mixer. pour batter into skillet and bake 20-26 minutes. edges of bread will detach from sides of skillet when done and center will be firm.
